How to play Carrom

Start Carrom by looking at the playing area and its controls. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. Use the control method described here for this activity. Read the example below alongside these instructions.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Notice the change in the playing area.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
