Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Start with a deliberate move.

Step by step

  1. Press Play to start the movement.
  2. Turn with arrow keys, swipes or the on-screen direction buttons.
  3. Each apple adds ten points and makes the snake longer.
  4. Pause when needed or start a new round.

Controls

Keyboard arrows, swipe gestures or the four direction buttons. Play / pause controls the movement. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

When moving right, you may turn up or down, but cannot turn immediately left into your own neck. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

The snake continues moving between inputs. Plan a route with space to turn. Compare the situation with the worked example. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
